On December 16, the gala of the Premis Carles Santos (Carles Santos Awards) for Valencian Music was held at the Principal Theater in Valencia. Among the nominees was IDENTIDADE, the group made up of women from different artistic fields who have recently released their first self-titled album.
The project included the premiere of four compositions for flute and guitar, three of which were commissioned by the creators of this successful project, Celia Ruiz Artacho (sound engineer), Amalia Tortajada (flute), Andrea González Caballero (guitar).
After the gala broadcast live by A Punt Media, they announced the winners of the various categories, including the best classical music album. Identidade won the award, demonstrating that unity is strength. This project, which values the hard work of each of the women who participated in it, received recognition for innovation within the classical music repertoire.
Also in the month of December, IDENTIDADE has obtained the Melomano de Oro distinction granted by the prestigious national magazine Melómano. A recognition of quality and interpretive sensibility of this record work.
Among the members of IDENTIDADE are the composers Clarice Assad (Brazil). Gabriola Ortiz (Mexico), Elisenda Fabregas (Spain) and Johanny Navarro (Puerto Rico). Also the photographer Anna Tena, the cameramen Esther Conze and Lydia Ramos and the musicologist Anna Cana. A mixture of many cultures where the preservation of the identity of each of them predominates.

The best classical music record was Identidade by Identidade, a team made up entirely of women and proud to be able to have their own prize category in Valencia. The award for best early and baroque music album went to Amystis for De Ribera & Navarro: Masters of the Spanish Renaissance, who wanted to remember in their speech all those people who dedicate themselves to the profession of early music: “We make music for people who died 300 years ago, let’s make it sound again. If dedicating yourself to music is difficult… the old-fashioned way is much more so”.
